DLF - Direct Line Feed
DLF is the ultimate supply system that removes all non-value added activity from the supply chain and is ideally suited for parts, kits and packaging that are used on a regular basis.
Each part, kit or package we supply has three bins: one we maintain in our stock and the other two on the customer's production lines. When the contents of the customer's first bin is exhausted, bin 2 is introduced. A daily surveillance visit will prompt the first bin to be replenished from PSG stock and initiate a further production order.
E-ban and Fax-ban
Basically, a version of kanban, shop floor teams e-mail or fax their requirements directly.
For parts with less regular usage, E-ban and Fax-ban ensure that when parts are required, they will be delivered within 48 hours.
Efficient stock control ensures response times never exceed the 48 hours limit.
Consignment Stock
The consignment stock operates on a regular (monthly or weekly) cycle. Again, all we need to know is how many parts have been used and we fill up the bins in the customer's stores ready for the next production cycle.
